Crown Relic – Crown Relic is trained at Spigot Lodge by Karl Burke, a 3-year-old bay colt by Kingman. He first ran this year and has won both starts, running over 7 furlongs. He won both races very comfortably and holds an entry in the Newmarket Betfred 2000 Guineas Stakes (Group 1)
Fallen Angel – Fallen Angel really is a superstar filly, trained by Karl Burke. She is a grey mare who has won group one races at age 2, 3 and 4 years of age.
Royal Champion – Royal Champion Based at Karl Burke, is a recent Group 1 winner at Riyadh, winning by nearly 5 lengths. This 8-year-old gelding has won nearly £2.4 million both at home and abroad.
Lazy Griff – Lazy Griff at Charlie Johnston Racing is owned by Middleham Park Racing, MPR is one of the largest syndicates in the UK and was originally set up in Middleham. Lazy Griff has been an exceptional racehorse for the syndicate so far, with a 2nd in the Epsom Derby and 3rd in the Irish Derby, taking his syndicate members on an ownership dream.
Venetian Lace – Venetian Lace is a 3 year old chesnut filly in training with Charlie Johnston. She won her first start, then was placed in Listed stakes at Royal Ascot, Group 3 & Group 2 at Newmarket July Course and 2nd in the Group 1 fillies’ mile at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile course. With entries in both the English and Irish Guineas, she is one to look out for.
Gracie – Gracie can be found at the yard of Neil Mechie. She is a recent winner on the pony racing circuit, giving her jockey Willow her first success of no doubt more to come.
Spring has sprung at Mechie Racing, where you will also find some lambs!
At Johnston Racing, horses will be giving swimming demonstrations starting at 9.45 am and thereafter every 20 minutes or so. There will be a Q&A opportunity whilst the horses are swimming.

- Freddie Wilks won the Newcomer award – Charlie Johnston Racing
- Kieran Kourdache won the Rider/Racing Groom Award & Overall Employee of the Year – Karl Burke Racing
- Hayley Clements won the Community Award – Micky Hammond Racing
Glasgow House – Glasgow House. There may not be any horses at this yard anymore, but there will be some racing memorabilia available to see at this historic stable.
Doubles were on the cards for both Patrick Neville at Sedgefield Races and Liam Bailey at Newcastle Races at the start of March.
Ashgill Equestrian will be with us again, so make sure you pop along to Low Moor to have a cuddle with the ponies and have a go at grooming.
Lady Buttons and her rider Jennie Durrans will be in the Main arena showing what life is like after racing for these amazing horses. Referred to as ‘The Queen of the North’ she won £292,471 in prize money. She was in training with Phil Kirby and owned/breed by Jayne and Keith Sivills. Having been unable to produce foals she has excelled in her new career as a show horse winning at the Agria Racehorse to show horse final at London International Horse Show in 2024
The local Hounds are always a great sight at Middleham Open Day and will be in the town as well as the main arena in the afternoon.
Regional – Regional is a name not to be missed he can be found in the yard of Ed Bethell a jet setting sprinter who is a group one winner after securing victory in the Betfair Sprint cup Stakes at Haydock Park he has won 5 races also been placed in the top three places ten times most notably a second and a third in the King Charles III Group 1 at Ascot. A consistent horse at the top level and having been purchased for only 3,500gns he has amassed over £800,000.
